stats: How does fatigue influence on NBA?

I am no NBA guy but during my research on NBA I was wondering how exactly the fatigue influences the game in general for the best teams. I was discussing it with Takeo other day. here are the numbers:

(the best teams with odd <1.3 and <1.6 were selected to win by moneyline and ATS:

The number of 3 games in 4 days was insignificantly low. What does it tell me? It tells me that the "fatigue" factor does not influence the game results at all for the top NBA teams. I guess the top teams are deep enough to switch the players and get them rest even when they play several games in a row.

My ultimate goal when creating a formula for the sport to get rid of "noise" parameters that does not influence on the game in a long run and only create a distraction.

Correct me if I am wrong.

What are the main important factors in NBA if you had to name 3 in difining the winner and the team that will cover the spread?

  3. For me, these 3 factors I believe are of importance:

    1. Trends: usually trends play a huge part in the NBA. If team A is in the top 10 and team B is in the middle 10, but team A has never won at team B's home court in the last 8 meets, I would wager on team B in that scenario.

    2. Experience vs youth: A team with many experienced (old) players will do better than a team with younger players when it come to the "fatigue" factor in scenarios where you have 3 games in 4 days, 3 games in 5, 4 games in 5, 5 games in 7, etc...

    3. Defense vs offense: games where two of the top 6 defensive teams are playing, i would take the under. games where two of the top 6 offensive teams are playing, i would take the over.

This crammed schedule will impact item (2) above a lot this year.  Average years of service vs. age will be important i think...
