Graphs

Graphs are quite the time saver (you don't really care about someone who had one good month eight months ago and all negative months since), but make sure you know what the graphs represent.

Regardless of the search query, all graphs show OVERALL profit grouped by month for the past 12 months. Because each graph includes a starting data point of 0, the maximum number of data points for each graph is 13 points. 13 points represents 12 months of data, whereas two data points represents one month of data, etc.

Data shown is by Fiscal Month not Calendar Month (eg, on Feb 12th the most recent "month" of data will show Jan 12 - Feb 12 not Feb 1 - Feb 12).

Use graphs as only part of your analysis! All graphs have a relative scale, so comparing two users by graphs alone will not tell you who is more successful. Instead, graphs give you a feel for a handicapper's consistency, downswings, recent trending, etc.

Note that graphs include ALL bets from a user even though the rankings only show full game bets.

Profit
The Profit figure shown is actually an adjusted profit calculation. Line.com allows all users to "bet" between $100 and $500 per game. Showing true profit in the rankings would unfairly reward those users who bet $500 on each and every game as compared to those handicappers who correctly use the unit system to weight their bets based on confidence level. Adjusted Profit normalizes each bet to a $300 bet size by dividing the total profit or loss on an individual game by the total amount risked on the game and then multiplying that number by 300. Note that this is NOT the same thing as adjusting EACH play to $300. This method fairly rewards you for using proper bet sizes, and rewards you for doing well on your "best bets."
ROI
The ROI figure shown is the per play Return on Investment. ROI = (net amount won / total amount wagered). Note that we could easily make these numbers look way better by using overall ROI - for example, as of 12 Feb 2012 CashMagician has an overall ROI of 424% - but we care more about displaying important statistics than reckless ones.
WIN%
Barring additional information WIN% is an utterly meaningless statistic. That being said, we know some of you want to see it. To illustrate the uselessness of this statistic on its own, as of 12 Feb 2012 JustFollowMe has a WIN% of 57.69% but has a negative ROI, while on the other hand MrBoxHead has a WIN% of 43.33% but has a positive ROI.
Odds
The Odds figure represents the average odds of the users' picks. Some users will have a really high ROI with a relatively low WIN %; this is because of the average odds. For example, as of 12 Feb 2012, BaseWinner has an ROI of 4.72% but a WIN % of only 50.89%. This is made possible because he generally plays underdogs.
Other Things to Know
The rankings only include bets on full games. We have some handicappers who are very sharp at halftime and quarter bets, but we don't include them in the rankings because they are harder to follow. The default rankings settings may change a lot. We will continually tweak the settings until global happiness is maximized. Doing so will undoubtedly cause some handicappers to feel less important - that's not the case, we're just experimenting.
